Happy Snow Moon!
February’s full moon is traditionally called the Full Snow Moon because usually the heaviest snows fall in February. It never snows here on the California Coast, but we sure are hoping for lots of snow up in the mountains as we enter our 4th year of drought! While we are desperately needing precipitation here in California, some of our Kids Club members are up to their ears in snow because there has been loads of it in other parts of the country.
We are still working on creating a good format to host the cool stuff that will be in the Kids Club, like video juggling lessons, earth games, chat rooms, contests and more. In the meantime, we will keep adding here to the Kids Club page on www.EarthCapades.com.
One idea that I had while surfing the other day is to post monthly/moonly stories. Our 7 year old son Kai asks for a “True” before lights out each night after we read to him. A “True” is a true story from our lives and it amazes me how many there are. This first story for the Kids Club is from my childhood when I was Kai’s age, and it has something to do with Dolphins! Sometime this week I will post an audio story here so make sure to log back in to listen to my Grandpa Dolphin Story!
Check out this Ecological Calendar
“Chris Hardman’s revolutionary ECOlogical Calendar offers a daily reminder of our responsibility to safeguard our amazing corner of the cosmos.
Like nature, the ECOlogical Calendar marks time by the seasonal changes in life on Earth – from winter snows to spring flowers, from summer sun to autumn leaves. Designed for use in the Northern Hemisphere, it presents information on seasonably visible stars, the phases of the Moon and tides, the rations of darkness and light, the seasonal behaviors of Earth’s creatures, and a host of other details about the natural world.”
A warm and wonderful welcome to our new Kids Club members who have signed up since the last full moon:
Please encourage your friends to join the club! Right now we have about 50 members. Our goal is to have at least 1,000 EarthCaKids by the end of 2015. Once we have 100 members, we will hold our first contest and name our adorable Turtle mascot.

Yoshi, Earthly, Nathan, GreenyGuy, Currents, Tittle, GiGi, Crush, Max, Tim, Zeus, George, Tommy, Bertha,Lightning, Ocean, Chris, Christina, John, Oceania, Mr. Turtle and Earthie
